Trust me don't take notice of the BBC report about AL Sadr etc... it's bollix. This is just Shia political infighting, nothing to do with the over all violence/insurgency. Having said that these negotiation may lead to political settlement of other issues, such as Al Sadr brough back, would ease the passing of HCL law etc... Al Sadr is not involved in sectarian violence. The media call him radical, but he's never made any radical statement. Just look at the media report and see if they contain any radical statement. His only crime is being vocally against the occupation and fighting the US before.
Remmeber yesterday article, below. Look at the cermony being marked with photos of SHIA historic religious leader, rather than a (unifying) symbol if IRAQ. This is a clear example of US institutionlising sectarianism within, in this case the the Iraq army:
"US hands Najaf to Iraqi forces
Vincent Brooks, a US brigadier-general, said: "Today marks a historic event for ... Iraq."
He said: "The Iraqi police and Iraqi army can assume overall responsibility for all law enforcement and security activities. This is a terrific success for Iraq, achieved through the policies of the Iraqi government."
Pictures of Iraq's four most senior Shia ayatollahs were paraded."
