"Just a thought, not an ethical one mind but if you were Itochu, wouldn't you try to build a stake in your partner, just to safeguard your interests? Would make sense, especially long term if the partnership prospers.

I don't think the (powerful) Iraqis backing Pet would want their 'pet' independent Iraqi orientated company swallowed up by any other company, and the juicy contracts benefiting others rather themselves. Even Pet said they want to remain an independent - they know why! Remember Pet COUNTRY (IRAQ) MANAGER, is a former top IMO official. Put yourself in his/his Iraq powerful group backing Pet, would you contracts-stuff-to-fatten your own ‘pet’ and thus occasionally slice tasty chunky pieces of nice breast/legs or let sell your ‘Pet’ to others to have the benefit, especially as YOU have the feeds (oil)?

Basically, the Iraqis have taken-over Pet, if you see what I mean.
