Yeh and there up to 40p in the last few days ! (350-390) dropping off now to mid 380s, DB have increased thier estimating to 450 ( I think!!)

Petrofina (1990) and Anadarko (1998) only drilled 1 well in the Safawi region . . did anybody tell them they had 8,750 sq km to go at......!!!!!!!


9.1.3. Safawi Block (Basalt Plateau)

In the Jordanian sector the basalts range in thickness from 100 to 600 meters in a south to north direction. As the region is underlain by Mesozoic and Cenozoic section, which attains a thickness of about 2500 meters, this section is similar to that of the Azraq Block, therefore similar plays are expected in this area . The QA-1 well, drilled by Petrofina in 1990 and deepened by Anadarko 1998 is the only exploration well drilled in this large area. Shows were encountered during the drilling of the Ghareb argillaceous limestones (the equivalent of the oil shales found on the surface and in many others areas between 815-1015 meters). Analysis of samples from this interval revealed an excellent source rock. However, the source is immature at this depth of burial. The geochemical data indicated that if the formation is found to be buried at 2000 meters in the deeper parts of the basin, it would be possible that it will reach maturity. Two other formations have some degree of source potential in the Mesozoic section, although not as good as the Ghareb. The Turonian Wadi Essir formation and the upper Cenomanian carbonates Hummer and Shueib formations.
