BoRed: I assume you know what Bush is about. As I have said repeatedly, we are going nowhere until our interests are secure. Bush is on the attack in order to provide political cover to his supporters in Congress. By effectively apologizing for execution, but remained unapologetic as to strategy, he is regaining ground that he lost by remaining silent for too long. Now that the election is over, he will begin a very slow withdrawal, ostensibly justified by the increasing participation of the Iraqi forces (who in fact are rediculously incompetent). However, the withdrawal will be VERY slow and done for maximum political benefit. The National Guard troops, our part-time military, will be withdrawn, but the regular forces will remain. In reality, over 100,000 troops will remain for quite a while. So, do not take his "confession" seriously. It is posing. The interesting question is what Iran and the US are up to. I assume you are aware that they have been in under the table discussions for over a year. The Saudis are scared to death of an Iran - US deal. The Saudis are behind much of the Sunni insurgency. The knife is at their throat, so the next couple of months will be interesting.
