Conspiracy theories are always appealing. I may be naive, but I would have thought that it would be in Petrolex's best interest to sell at the highest possible price, as long as their chief executive is not being held to ransom with the threat of being shot tomorrow - so they should have been able to wait a few more days.
But there's always that 750k sell today which does imply that petrolex has possibly cleared the last of the 3 million shares owned by them. Of course there's the other million shares optioned at 20p which could come into the frame.
Your point about when the interims will happen is interesting, primarily because the interims will only cover trading during the 6 months through to the end of September 2000, and shouldn't contain any earth-shattering information..We know fairly well what they will contain since monthly revenues are openly published. The only big question is how high the debt is and how it is being serviced. I suppose that there is expectation of further information about Pan's plans, and maybe the state of play on upping its stake in El Dorado.
All of this says that the significant returns will come to the medium term investor, not the short termers. That is unless people managing the rumour flow are more clever than I think.
