Ladron (and everyone else) Thanks for all your words of advice, I think I will ponder for a while before making that decision as I am not in a terrific rush but must decide sometime during the next few weeks. Just to complicate things a bit more the missis wants a new floor put down in the bathroom at the same time and I guess this will need to be laid while the existing bath and sink and toilet are removed, which would be easier to do if I did the work myself I suppose as it might be difficult to tell a plumber to go away while I laid a new floor and then to get him to return after I have laid it. The new floor which would consist of slotted pieces of wood that you glue together would definitely need to be laid under the toilet and sink if not the bath and could only be done while the bathroom is empty, it shouldn't take long to lay though as the bathroom is quite small. I will also have to retile the walls at the end of it all. This is a job I have never faced before and I have to admit that I am not looking forward to starting it. (if it is me that starts it)

Seconduser I certainly take your point that before starting this job I definitely need the missis on my side BEFORE I start this job. LOL
