By the end of 2007, how many small independent biotechnology companies will be left in the UK?
In 2006 large pharmaceuticals companies around the world snapped up a string of small publicly quoted and private companies, such as NeuTec Pharma and Domantis. That trend is very likely to continue this year. Those most likely to be acquired include biotechnology companies with treatments in late stage development, or those whose science is potentially so exciting that larger players are willing to take the risk of buying them before extensive tests have been done.
