It appears to me that the CellCentric approach to cancer treatment (and others)relies upon a detailed knowledge of the combinatorial features of genes that may have a multi-functional purpose. As such the need to identify a fingerprint that singles out a cancer cell from a healthy cell becomes more complex. From an academic approach the work done by CellCentric may well advance the understanding of why some people develope cancer (and other illnesses) and some do not but does it lead to a useful treatment? Trovax targets a single known gene marker that according to OXB only exists on cancer cells. This to me provides a one-to-one mapping of a targeted and therefore more potent treatment that only attacks cancer cells. I put this forward as a hypothesis. Maybe someone with more in-depth medical knowledge might like to comment. In any event anything that attacks this gastly disease is to be encouraged although I suspect any theropy from the CellCentric approach is decades away. Again any knowledgeable comment appreciated.
