Regarding CD4 responses being proportional to CD8 responses…. a CD4 response is required for an efficacious CD8 response but it isn’t possible to directly say that one is directly proportional to the other. There were some excellent CD8 responses in man and indeed which suggest that both antibody and CD8 responses are associated with positive clinical responses.

The CD4 response is not less of a concern as such as it is still a measure of immune responsiveness. To date, however, current data point towards the importance of antibody and CD8 responses.
