A takeover by Roche or any of the big majors would kill what Osmo are doing now.
For now I think Roche will be happy to increase their stake in Osmetech just to keep a watching brief on this upstart that is now starting to take a slice of their pie. The cheek of Osmetech refining GENEDRIVE to make it better than light cycler and then hqving the audacity to design a consumable compatible with both.
Roche could not make opti work, the revenues from it were small fry to them. Alfred Marek and co got their hands back on it free from Roche restraint and look what they have achieved. The Idexx deal with Roche for the Vetlyte(AVL9180) expires soon and as Trout has speculated OPTI lion has got to be in pole position to take its place.
As we know Osmo have over the past few months recruited a number of specialists for the Molecular Diagnostics division. The job adverts stipulated that the condidates should have a knowledge of both human and ANIMAL DNA.
I anticipate that soon into the new year we will here the announcement about a "VET gene" device based on OPTIgene for Idexx.
What revenues from OPTI tube then if it is being supplied for OPTI Gene, Lightcycler and a DNA product for Idexx?
