ONE BAGGERS OR MORE FOR 2004?

CockneyRebel - Tue, 30 Dec 03 :

Some interesting replies, I'm sure some of these have decent potential. I'm glad the thread has found interest.

I would like to see some less speculative and less risky stuff perhaps. CUC, interesting and I have held but took profits. It's on a pretty racey PE now. Sales growth is fine but increasing sales 5 fold in 5 years sounds far more spectaular than growing sale 39% pa compound but its the same thing more or less. I'm not convinced I need to pay such a high PE to get the earnings growth. A lack of history in this stock also makes me a tad cooler - I like to see a bit of a record of delivering as a PLC really.

With VCP that I posted above sales are up in H1 34%, eps up 71% et the PE is in single digits and its trading at around NAV.

MBY, whiler sales growth is only up 8% earnings are up 134%, again on a very low PE.

So really, balancing out the risk/reward I still prefer to invest more in the lower PE stuff than risk the high PE that suggests similar growth.

I'm willing to accept higher PE's where I can see profits and strong growth in earnings and where the PE is likely to fall fast as in VAN which I hold.

Keep them coming guys - I'm open minded to anything but they have to present better risk/reward than what I currently hold.
