I hope MidasX does`nt mind me taking his elegant summary of last year and re-posting here.
THE YEAR THAT WAS!
If we consider the developments and progress made this year, some of which are outlined below, I feel we must think of 2003 as a very successful year in the ongoing evolution of a soon to be global brand:-
Following on from the successful launch of the Valuestar T and FS computers using SoundVu technology NEC expanded it's range by introducing several new models incorporating SoundVu, a positive sign of the acceptance of the technology and hopefully their ongoing sales.
NEC subsidiary authentic has demonstrated a slim prototype cell phone and a laptop using SoundVu technology.
Sharp have launched a prototype 4 inch LCD screen with built in electronics and SoundVu technology.
Maxell have introduced multi-media NXT flat speakers.
Teak are due to launch their first NXT 2.1 speaker system.
Phillips have extended the use of their NXT wireless rear speaker system.
Following on from the launch of their first NXT system Brookstones have introduced several new models, for sale in over 250 retail outlines and on their web site.
Sonic impact have introduced an NXT enabled backpack for sale in over 600 retail outlets.
Armstrong are continuing and expanding the use of their very successful I-ceiling panels.
Fane acoustics have introduced the first production models of their NXT Mini-Pro speaker system.
Motorola have introduced the NXT soniqbag.
3M have introduced the first professional Rear Screen Projection System incorporating SoundVu, and have signed an exclusive deal for use of a non-core application. Further payment of £750,000 due dependant on future development (currently on target) and royalties on any future product.
Pioneer introduce mini DVD system and 5.1 Home Theatre System.
A licence with Synaptics was announced in the middle of the year, and a production version of NXT enabled Touchpad already available.
Johnsons Control in partnership with Phillips announced the JCI in car surface sound system, which will be ready for mass production in 2006.
TDK have updated their NXT tremor speaker range, and have launched the outloud case, which would appear to be a huge success, both here and abroad, I have bought three!
It would appear that once a company actually launches a product, these are being improved and the range expanded, something I feel would not happen unless the original models were proving to be a success.
On a more general point we have had a very successful rights issue with 91% take-up, and the chairman and directors continue to take fees in shares. The company has a sound financial base to move forward.
The year to come. The supply chain for DMA exciters has been established, and we have the mobile/mobiles to look forward to hopefully in the first 6 months. January 8th marks the launch of the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and hopefully there might be a few surprises. Failing that news that the chairman has again taken shares for fees, and good interims in February should give us a good start to the year.
