An interesting post nod but I think people ought to see the "flawed business model" is being changed in two key ways.
Out of the window has gone "Here's a great new tech" and put it on the window ledge at Cygnet House were no-one could see it let alone be convinced it would benefit their business.
With the Shinhint model not only have we convinced the partner of the benefit to their business but also are part of the design and engineering expertise.So any "problems" ironed out rapidly so the momentum to market is kept up, any worries,questions, restrictions by end customers rapidly resolved.
We are now positioned as an "In your face, but your friend who are willing and able to help because you are important to us" company and that will serve us well and at the same time improve our royalty/consultancy mix going forward.
Over these past 18 months we managed to get a toe in several doors for the first time.These have now turned into feet in doors (Orders for 3 planes=Now 153,TVR car=Now Toyota and Citroen) so no reason why the new "NXT way" can't help to increase the interest and improve the take up of our products going forward as has been the case with the type of company you mentioned in your post.
