Remember this is going to blow them away at CES in 2 weeks:

"You heard it here first!
I sat just a few feet away, at an apex of an equilateral triangle. An equivalent NXT speaker would have delivered bass down to 150Hz or so, which would make use with a subwoofer highly problematic, though not impossible, but the test speaker worked down to about 80Hz, which is as good as any moving coil speaker the same size. In addition, the treble extension was obvious. No separate tweeter is needed, but the treble extension was impressive. Indeed, the speaker even sounded a little bright to my ears.

What really set the BMR speaker apart, however, was its extraordinary stereo imagery. When a voice was panned from right to left, it was as though the singer has been threaded onto a string between the two enclosures, and pulled between them by some invisible clockwork. Image depth was equally extraordinary, the soundstage stretching from well in front to way behind the speaker plane, and the complexity of the image that the speakers presented was equally stunning and clearly ahead of anything a conventional speaker can do, even coincident source speakers like KEF Uni-Q which at first sight might appear to be a viable alternative.

BMR finally cracks one of the goals of all loudspeaker designers by providing the means to produce a single point source, full range loudspeaker, a technology that can only be approximated by other means, and not very well as it now turns out. Yes, the test speaker was a little rough around the edges, but it was impossible not to be dumbstruck by the promise inherent in the Balanced Mode speaker. Add in some of the other properties, and you can see why I’m excited.

The technology is said to be inherently cheap to replicate, and can use production lines already set up for conventional moving coil loudspeakers. Directivity can be controlled at the design stage, and is largely independent of loudspeaker geometry and size. No crossovers are required, and it is possible to envisage loudspeakers with a 100kHz bandwidth, and which are phase accurate across the band. Finally, NXT assures me that once the designer gets his head around the new paradigm, designing BMR speaker is not hard, though inevitably there will be a learning (or unlearning?) curve.

Expect to see BMR in due course encroaching on the traditional market for hi-fi speakers, but in the first instance, I see them as engaging the utility and 5.1-channel market for small, user-friendly speakers, the kind of market currently dominated by the likes of Bose. And remember where you heard this first".

Many strings of great quality to the current and future REVENUE bow!

NXT is NOT a one trick IP pony!
