Remote data storage in the news again this weekend:-
RPT Northgate says Buncefield fire will temporarily disrupt service
(Repeating to clarify company believes disruption will be covered by
insurance)
LONDON (AFX) - UK software company Northgate Information Solutions PLC said
Sunday's explosion at the Buncefield oil storage terminal north west of London
will "temporarily affect" its service to customers.
The company, which makes human resources software, said in a statement that
the explosion had "badly damaged" equipment at its head office building,
disrupting its service to customers.
But Northgate said it had launched a business continuity plan which would
enable it to resume normal operations using remote data centres and other
offices around the country. It added that business interruption and other costs
will be covered by insurance.
"This allows the board to be confident that the long-term impact of this
incident is unlikely to be material," Northgate said in a statement.
Three Northgate employees who were on site at the time of the blast were
hospitalised, but have since been discharged.
Northgate shares closed at 83-3/4 pence on Friday, valuing the group at 446
mln stg.
