Thanks, MRP. Got family in Cairo. Interesting place. Traffic is crazy - no rules and every man for himself (mind the donkies and children and cyclists with 200 breadcakes on a board on their heads). Petrol was 6p per litre when I visited a year ago - subsidised by the government to encourage development. Not enough jobs so they have 5 people doing a job that can be done by one, with each earning peanuts. Growing like mad though with new shopping malls springing up. Some people living in eye-opening poverty if you get off the beaten track but new 4x4s driving amongst the beat up taxis. Could be a huge gateway economy into Africa if they get their act together. The humidity is very low so the heat is nothing like as uncomfortable as you would imagine.
