**** NIGELS TIP OF THE YEAR ****

nigel_ - Wed, 02 Jan 02 :

Good to have some support for the Scottish bank Stan, btw RBOS is already valued at more than BARC! £47bn v £37bn

You have raised an interesting point, which I can fully understand having worked for RBS for a number of years.

Natwest branch staff were previously trained to be 'clerks' whilst RBS have (since 1996) trained all staff to be 'salespeople'.

From the cashiers to the managers, they are all 'points driven' and points are only generated by selling Royalties accounts, Loans, Saving accounts, Mortgages etc.........

Ever wondered why when you go into RBS to perform a simple transaction, the spotty 12 year old cashier asks you if 'you have a mortgage, credit card or a loan?'! Ever wondered why you get a phone call every Tuesday night (from a different member of staff) asking you if you need ANOTHER credit card even though you already have 27 from them?!

My reason for leaving? Because my targets became ridiculous, unachieveable and plain stupid. No regrets either, I still keep in touch with memebers of staff there who tell me I am better off out of it.

I do, however, believe in the business model and think that RBS will be very well.
