THE SKINNY COW ™ RANGE GETS BIGGER 20/12/2004

Richmond Ice Cream, the UK’s number one ice cream manufacturer, is increasing its successful Skinny Cow™ range with the launch of super premium half litre pots and multipack cones in January 2005.

Since introducing the brand exclusively in Asda in January 2004, The Skinny Cow™ has become the fastest selling brand in the healthy sector of the UK ice cream market (Source: AC Nielson Total GB Scanning Data 12 wks to 12 June 2004) achieving a
13.5% value share from just one retailer (Source: AC Nielsen Panel Data 12 weeks to 27 November 2004).

The Skinny Cow™ is the UK’s first lifestyle ice cream and delivers indulgence with low levels of fat and calories. Consumers have voted The Skinny Cow™ as their favourite super premium ice cream when tasted against other leading super premium brands.

“The initial trial exceeded expectations,” said Kate Needham, marketing director at Richmond Ice Cream. The brand was rolled out across other multiple retailers in October and we are confident these new products will further boost sales. The vast majority of the sales are incremental to the ice cream category and so The Skinny Cow™ is a must stock item for any retailer looking to grow their ice cream sales.”

“In today’s society consumers are indulging as much as ever,” explained Needham. “For the first time our product offering means that consumers no longer need to justify having an ice cream – it is a case of ‘why not?’ rather then ‘why?’. The Skinny Cow™ offers ultimate indulgence and so will successfully merchandise alongside premium ice cream.”

The new embossed premium tubs will be available in three delicious flavours and are packed with ripples and inclusions (RSP of £3.49 for a 500ml tub). Providing delicious tastes and textures, they feature fun names and packaging designed for high repeat purchase levels and to engage new customers.

Madly Deeply includes gorgeous swirls of chocolate and white chocolate iced desserts, filled with a rich chocolatey sauce and chocolate coated malt balls, whilst Completely Mintal boasts a mental mix of chocolate and white mint iced desserts mixed with chocolate sauce and chocolate coated mint pieces. Fun-illa is bursting with vanilla pods and made with real double cream. All three products are less than 3% fat per 100ml serving and less than 100 calories.

The multi-cone packs (RSP of £2.29 for 4 x 110ml) provide a smooth texture and multiple flavours right through the cone for fantastic and tastier flavour delivery. The multi-cone packs offer two variants – 4x chocolate and caramel cones where toffee and chocolate collide with swirls of soft caramel sauce in a crispy biscuit cone with a delicious hit of chocolate. Alternatively the 4x raspberry and vanilla cones offer refreshing raspberry sorbet and vanilla iced desserts, swirled and topped with delicious raspberry flavour sauce in the same crispy and chocolatey cone.
