VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11,
2005--Gee-Ten Ventures Inc., (the "Company") (TSX
VENTURE:GTV)(OTCBB:GEEVF) wishes to provide its shareholders with
additional background information from previous data obtained from
files on the diamond exploration of the Kuvo concession situated in
the Huambo area of Angola. The Company intends to file this
information on SEDAR in an NI 43-101 compliant report within 10
business days.
In the early 1970's, Diamang (Diamond Company of Angola and
predecessor company of Angola' state owned mining company, Endiama)
entered into a joint venture with DeBeers to explore for kimberlites
in Angola. The joint venture, called Condiama, was excluded from
certain alluvial diamond areas or "claims" selected by Diamang in
1971. Condiama completed an extensive field-sampling program in
Angola that resulted in the discovery of at least 33 kimberlite
bodies in the Kuvo concession area.
This Kuvo concession area is the same area that the Company,
through agreements (the "Kuvo Agreements") expects to acquire an
interest in. The Kuvo Agreements were first disclosed in a news
release dated January 17, 2005 and their terms were further described
in the news releases dated May 17, 2005 and June 9, 2005. At this
point, the Kuvo Agreements have not been accepted for filing with the
TSX-Venture Exchange. The Company must, and is expecting to shortly,
complete a NI 43-101 compliant report on the Kuvo Concession before
the Exchange will approve the Kuvo Agreements.
The kimberlites range up to 1000m X 200m in size and are covered
by 3m to 27m of overburden. Twenty-nine of these kimberlites have
been sampled in the past with sample sizes ranging from six cubic
meters to 154 cubic meters. Five of the kimberlites were found to
contain diamonds with a total of 20 diamonds being recovered. At
least two of the kimberlites exhibit multi-phase intrusions. Alluvial
diamonds were recovered in the river Sonde which drains one of the
kimberlites.
Given that these are often large, multi-phase kimberlites, it is
considered that the limited amount of sampling undertaken in the past
is insufficient to evaluate effectively the diamond content and
economic viability of these primary diamond deposits.
The above 33 kimberlites were apparently discovered by Condiama
in the period 1971-73. However, prior to 1971 the Kuvo lease area was
owned entirely by Diamang. After 1971, Condiama took possession of
the major part of the Kuvo lease area, but Diamang still retained
around 25% of the lease.
This would imply that there exist more than the 33 known
kimberlites on the Kuvo lease as these figures do not include any
kimberlites discovered in the area pre-1971 by Diamang, nor any
kimberlite discovered by Diamang in the 25% of the area retained
after 1971.
The geological map of the Huambo area shows 18 kimberlites
plotted within the Kuvo lease. If these 18 kimberlites do not include
those discovered by Condiama, the total number of kimberlites already
known to exist within the Kuvo lease may reach 51. It will be
necessary to obtain the precise coordinates of the location of each
kimberlite to verify the exact numbers of known kimberlites within
the Kuvo concession.
It should be noted that this region was contested during the
Angolan civil war and was home to the rebel forces and national
forces during the period from 1976 to 2002. As a result, no
exploration programs are believed to have been carried out within the
concessions since 1976. It would appear that the Kuvo concession has
been under-explored and that the area has excellent potential for the
discovery of alluvial and kimberlite-hosted deposits that may be
diamondiferous.
