1. Prices are running 20-30% higher than last year. The holiday companies are squeezing the margins of third party hotels. Christmas week saw spainish hotel/resorts only seeing 70 quid a room for the WEEK on a 600 quid per person holiday.
2. There is no proven link that falling houses prices actually impact holidays . There are circumstances were consumers can't afford to move , so go on holiday instead. Most holidays are well within the take home pay of the average punter.
3. I'm actually posting from gran canaria were I live most of the winter. The place was packed this christmas. I'm assured that mytravel will post profits alot sooner than 2007.
