(1)difference between what your company is putting in and what the new VPhone does is probably negligible provided your compay paid at least £2,500 for each computer system installed.
(2)It all comes down to the way the software of your computer manages the picture/data. You have to 'SEE' the difference to understand why the MM745 is so good.
(3)Videostreaming is going to need some pretty tough and knowledgeable people behind it to keep it running and make sure everyone can connect. Not for the uninitiated.... believe me... :@) MM745 is practically "Plug'n'Play
(4)Footprint of your PC & Monitor is going to be fairly large, plus the cabling etc., is going to make it cumbersome, add to that the unreliability of the OS and interference with other programs on the system AND you will still need to have a phone on the desk... :@)
(5) Limitation of your system is purely within the organisation, you might be able to get outside onto the internet highway, but if you can then others can get in - security? what security... MM745 has built in Internet browser, will link to MSN Chat, run upto 2mbps and with java plug-in's provide a host of extra's your company would kill for. PLUS it dials outside like a normal phone...and connects to any other Videophone device using compatible handshaking (H.323)
I only got to a small percentage of advantages of Videphone over video streaming using a pc... I could go on but ADVFN would pull the thread before I got to the end...
