DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2003--Viseon, Inc. (OTCBB:VSNI - News), a global developer of broadband personal video communications solutions, today announced that its European Patent, granted on June 4, 2003, EP 0780044, has been accepted by the United Kingdom patent office and is in full force and effect as of November 14, 2003. The patent pertains to interactive video communications over broadband networks. The patent application was originally filed in 1995 along with patent applications in 16 other European countries.
John Harris, Viseon's president and CEO commented, "After eight long years awaiting the issuance of this prescient patent, video communication devices have evolved directly into the scope of our claims. Corporate video system deployments are growing, but the significant unit volumes for video telephony in the UK are now in the 3G wireless market. We anticipate that Hutchison Whampoa, NEC, Motorola and other 3G handset providers will be reviewing our patent claims carefully."
Companies currently selling corporate video communications devices within the UK, which may also have an interest in reviewing the Viseon patent claims, include Polycom, Tandberg, Sony, VCON, Aethra and Motion Media.
