Tuesday October 14, 6:30 am ET
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 2003--Viseon, Inc. (OTCBB:VSNI - News), a global developer and provider of broadband personal video communications solutions, today announced that the VisiFone™, available in a version that is compatible with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), will begin shipping in November.
"SIP appears to be the protocol upon which the cable MSOs, which we have been working with for over a year, will standardize on for their launch of consumer video telephony in the near future," said John Harris, Viseon's president and CEO. "Our goal is to be the primary supplier of consumer video telephony endpoints for the major consumer broadband providers in both the DSL and Cable industry."
SIP is the primary protocol being adopted for voice communication over broadband as reported, in several stories, in The Wall Street Journal last week. The VisiFone will initially support Caller ID, Hold, Transfer, and 3-Way Audio Conferencing.
