You may remember similar negative mutterings about Viagra when it came in about cost severely impacting prescribing practice. When omeprazole was first introduced - it was available in hosptials only on a named patient basis only! People that actually knew what they were talking about would also appreciate that there is a world of difference between the prognostications of NICE and real life. Their recent output has done real damage to their reputation - see for instance guidance for treatment of urge incontinence.
