If the retail sector falls foul within the city if post xmas trading statements are anything other but upbeat, how would this affect other sectors such as telecoms? Would there be a realisation that telecoms have bottomed and would sentiment therefore change with a positive movement towards the telecom sector, particulary that of RED & THUS, or is this just wishful thinking.

Currently I hold RED, but not THUS, though I am like a kid chosing sweets, do I take THUS or do I go for something else?

PS. could someone explain what a long position is please.
