MINMET PLC FTSE MNT

You make several good points, all of which I agree with. Except that Minmet is not quite worthless - there is about 6-7p per share-worth of assets.
The point *I* was making was that opinions expressed without any backup at all contribute nothing to a discussion, and are, in effect, worthless themselves, as well as being irritating!
I would much rather see 'Sell Minmet because....'
There are lots of irons in the Minmet fire at the moment, at least some of which should come good during the course of this year. How much actual NAV they will add will be clear once they are quantified. How much they will add to the share price - not the same thing at all - remains to be seen.

Not quite sure what is meant by your friend's question - she asked it on iii as well. As far as I know, unless you can take advantage of a share placement or a rights issue, both of which let you buy your shares direct from the company, ordinary share dealing is usually done via a stockbroker.
However, I don't think there is anything to stop you buying shares from another investor who wished to sell - the seller would transfer the shares into your name, and you would give him an agreed amount of money.
Sorry, can't be more helpful than that....
