Re: "Sets" and MM
If I understand Curry's very useful post, the Sets system is a great deal more transparent: it's like having hundreds of MMs instead of just 3 or 4. Also, tho' I haven't seen a Sets online interface, I imagine that, say, price-demanded amounts are listed in ascending order, so that it is immediately apparent from whom one should shop (similarly if you're selling).
Sounds to me, oddly enough, remarkably analagous to the Betfair system, tho possibly they borrowed the basic principle from the brokerage world.
I am, certainly, unhappy with the level of "transparency" shown by my dealer.
Previous exchanges on this BB indicate that I could, as an Irish resident, sign up with one of the online houses in the UK; but my own investigations indicate that they handle our local (benign) cap gains regime clumsily; that there are invariably petifogging currency and administrative problems; and that, simply, "the cheque is in the post" becomes more of a nightmare - especially when READY readies are needed.
Time for an Irish-based online house - with full, SETS-type transparency. Was tried before, but Irish stock-buying community small at the time. Same market, now grown, has alas already perh been seized by the contract-for-difference crowd and other casino-type operators. Good luck to them, I say.
