i noticed a few posts back you said you are an art historian
dont know if you could help but i bought my first oil painting this week as an investment from the same fellow i get my gold from , have been trying to find out a bit about the artist but there's not that much coming up on the net
the artists name is James Stokeld he was born in Sunderland in 1827 and died in 1877 , his most famous painting is called Last Man Ashore the painting i bought is signed and dated 1877 with its original frame but is untitled , could have been his last painting
was just hoping you could fill in a few blanks about the artist , if not no sweat and many thanks if you can
