Machoolahan's "Algorithmic Trading Thread"
machoolahan - Sat, 30 Dec 06 :
Guys, posting into the ether with my non-share thoughts as I sometimes do.... Answer back, shout, disagree, swear, ignore - please, I like this being a place where we can all coolly be ourselves.
They are going to hang Saddam Hussein. He's almost certainly a very bad man.
And yet I feel physically sick. Even the broadsheet papers in the UK are nodding along, or opposing this in a limp "ooh well" sort of way.
Rope, gravity, stretch, choke. There. We are doing this. Isn't that all better, now, everybody.
This is the world we have in 2007, cunt-witted-US-right-wing morality vs.
spineless alright-jock-on-a-friday-afternoon-pseudo-liberal dorks. Which one is winning do you think?
i.e. it's a really shit one. Without putting too fine a point on it the government of Britain and their tongue-fuckers in the press make me vomit just about now. Morally the West is finally, perhaps inevitably, nowhere.
You'll probably all disagree - but something is really wrong here, for me at least. Something is about to get very broken, just when the very thick earnestly expect everything to be miraculously fixed. I think this is a weird line that we will look back on with regret, long after we've crossed it.
It's not quite time for the "N" word yet - you know, the one that applies when all the checks and balances we pride ourselves on go out of the window for some lunatic's idea of the higher good. The one that could never happen again. Free press and all that.
But it will, if we're not careful. Ask your Muslim friends how they feel right now in Britain. Going into 2007.

Apologies. Sometimes I have to splurge. I'm afraid I do actually think all this though. I still stand by everything I said about Lebanon over the summer - it was disgusting for the poor, poor people there and the poor ordinary Israelis co-opted into it. Blair meally-mouthed peace as he waved the orphanage-busters through Prestwick and tefloned his way onwards to, a hopefully unhappy (hopefully mortally short) posterity. What an utter wanker. "Yo Blair!"
Fin.
Gimlet eyed trading resumes 2nd. Sorry for the language [but I had you all down as seafaring types ;)]
Happy New Year threaders - look after you and yours, there's apparently no other rule.
