M&S about to go down the drain

Yup, that's what the general prevailing idea is, snap; that Green may return with another bid. I simply don't think it will happen. I feel that Green will do exactly what he promised; he will eventually trade MKS off the High Street (well, maybe not entirely off the High Street, but his shops will progressively provide even stiffer competition with MKS and perhaps his disappointment and anger may lead him to target MKS more specifically, with various lines and ranges), but he won't bid again.

There is a weight of opinion that doesn't support my view though and there are a lot of shreholders out there, that are hanging on, waiting and hoping for the extra 60p per share that a new Green bid may bring.

Paradoxically, the worse MKS results are, this Christmas, the greater the hope will be that Green will bid!! Thus, the MKS share price is underpinned by steel. It won't rise unless there is a bid, or until Rose turns the company around and it won't fall as long as Green's ghost is present, or until Rose is proved not to be up to the task of increasing MKS profits.

This £3.30-£3.50 business could go on for months. I don't see the establishment of any trend, and I haven't for months - just look at the chart! MKS is hardly a gambler's paradise at present! Rose is a very lucky man. He fended off Green and now the ghost of Green is proving his medium-term saviour!

It will NOT last forever, though, in my opinion. Rose is doomed, as is the next CEO of MKS and the next, until someone really gets a hold of the company by buying it and running it himself in a very different way (highly unlikely to be herself, sorry girls; glass ceilings, vested interests, banks, old school ties and all that).
