M&S about to go down the drain

HI all,

Talk in the papers of MKS clothing supplies being hit from the dreadful events of the Asian Earthquake and Tsunami. 25% of MKS clothing is sourced from Sri Lanka. MKS say it won't be a problem as most of the spring ranges are already in transit.

Just on that note. In another life, I have a great interest in Geoscience, Geology, Geography and Meteorology; all the natural sciences, really. This disaster is truly massive, affecting richer countries, especially Scandinavia (3000 dead on the tourist beaches) as well as the desperately poor countries around the fringes of Asia.

My 15-y-o daughter came down to ask for my credit card (!) so she could donate the equivalent of 4 hours work, from her saturday job. I couldn't help but double that.

We are not poor people who post on here. Most of us are very comfortable. If we could donate a reasonable amount, it would be a tiny drop in a massive ocean, but at least we would have tried. If you have donated already, please say; if you donate as a result of this post, briliant - but again, please say - it might encourage others.

I'm just flattened by the enormity of it - and I feel terribly helpless and useless. That earthquake had the power of every single earthquake in the world, added together, over the last 5 years. Incomprehensible and help is just desperately needed. It will take two minutes of your time and a credit card.
