I've just taken another look at the BBC's video offering on their web site. It now works for me using WMP. I have to say it was quite easy to use.
However the video size was very small, and the picture disintegrated when there was any serious movement in it, becoming blocky and degrading the frame rate to something ridiculous.
I am counting down the days when I will be prompted to upgrade the video player installed on my machine. I can't say I would bother myself to do this.
Use of video on web sites has got to be IMO compatible with casual use. Having to download software specifically for video is incompatible with these patterns of usage.
Video over the internet will continue to be the poor relation of broadcast TV until technology is adopted of the kind Forbidden Technologies offer, low maintenance and easy to use. These are the killer attributes of successful software.
