ISI U.S. company index falls for third week
NEW YORK, Dec 26 (Reuters) - U.S. business activity fell
for a third straight week in the latest week as sales of cars,
homes and retail merchandise lagged despite the holiday season,
the International Strategy and Investment Group said on
Wednesday.
ISI's weekly company survey index slipped to 36.5 in the
week ended Dec. 21 from 37.3 one week earlier. The four-week
moving average also fell, to 37.8 from 38.0 in the previous
week.
"Softer news from auto dealers, homebuilders and retailers
led our overall average down this week," ISI said.
The ISI survey, which was first published in 1994, tracks
revenues across a wide array of U.S. industries.
ISI surveys about 150 companies across the country,
including retailers, auto dealers, manufacturers, home
builders, airlines, banks and technology companies. A reading
of zero is weak and 100 is strong.
