For those that have held throughout 2006 this has been a year of continuing gloom as the chart clearly shows. Good news such as clinical trials, two polymer deals etc have been of the jam next year type. Whereas the bad news has been of the type which affects todays sales and profits eg quality recall issue and Boston Scientific AAA graft distribution withdrawal.
Looking forward to 2007 it can't get any worse, can it?
The stapler deal with Medtronic is an excellent validation of the company which will hopefully generate near term sales. The big unknown and potential company transforming event in 2007 is who will distribute the AAA graft in the US? If not Boston then perhaps JNJ, Medtronic or Abbott? Why not? LMT have already done deals with Boston and Medtronic so why not one of the other big players too? In 2007 we should also have initial clinical data coming through for the polymer projects which will show if the division has viable products.
