LNG tankers have been operating since the 1960's (and some 30 year old LNG tankers are still in operation)
It has been reported that 2 tankers recently built in separate shipyards have had problems. I think one or two here need to keep things in perspective. Because of the urgency now in the West to have LNG (up to recently most LNG was supplied to the Far East) pressure is going to be put on shipyards to sort this problem pretty quickly. Both these tankers use membrane rather than the Moss (spherical) containment system. My guess is that for the Samsung tanker at least, it is a construction issue not a design problem.
We can be sure that these tankers are not about to disappear and therefore cannot see any impact on HMY
