Literally An Organic Growth Stock
David_S - Wed, 27 Dec 06 :
Monitoring this one and waiting to see results of AGM today(tonight).
I noticed that at least one posting mentioned the UK spread and lack of liquidity. Just as an aside, I'm British, and living in the UK but I have a TDAmeritrade account which means I'll be using that to trade BBC in the US markets. As far as BBC/BODI goes, the spread today in the US was $0.01 with good liquidity (291,000 traded today). My Ameritrade account also does not incur stamp duty, trades are $9.99 (about a fiver), I can go short or long and trade on margin when things are really moving. I've had my account with them for several years now and have no complaints on any level, so I've never tried anyone else over there. Also, there is now an ETF that I can use to effectively neutralise currency risks on any cash holding in between trades (FXB). (There are others for Euro's, Swiss, etc.) Also check out ADR's (American Depository Receipts); many non-US companies are listed via these. I've traded Chinese, Brazilian, Canadian stocks via ADR's. My point: you may find it worth the hassle of setting up an account in the US. Just not giving Mr. Brown his 0.5% is worth it. Sorry not to discuss BBC/BODI. Got a gut feeling I may regret not buying in a small position at the close, but my rule is not to trade in advance of big events with unknown outcomes (like AGM's and Earnings).
