NEWSPAPERS AND WIRES: Today’s Independent analyses PartyGaming’s deal with Playtech saying that shares in Party surged following the announcement, which could see concerted expansion into the Asian market.
The Times has Party at the top of its 'day's biggest movers' list, up 11.8% after the Playtech deal was announced.
The Evening Standard reports on Australian gaming group Tattersall's and its financial partner Macquarie Bank going into 2007 with an aggressive acquisition strategy after European Gaming, the two companies’ bid vehicle, raised its offer for gaming terminals operator Talarius by 10p to 280p a share to win the backing of key institutional shareholders. The bid values Talarius at £142 million. Shareholders are to vote on the proposed deal next Monday.
CITY: PartyGaming continues to gain ground following the announcement of its deal with Playtech yesterday, up 1p or nearly 3% this morning to 36.5p. Playtech is up 7p to 263p. Sportingbet, meanwhile, is up over 3% to 46p and Ladbrokes nudges up by 1% or 4p to 430p.
