LED - will these light up the portfolio?

Glad the IC summary sparked some discussion.

SOLA, which is often mentioned as the example we'd all like this to follow, has unique patented technology, for instance, recycling electronic components for silicon rather than buying new.

What does the BB feel LED offers uniquely? As I understand it, while there is a potentially huge increase in market for LEDs, there are also other producers already established. Is it just that the company LED is cheap because of its China base? Or does it offer other advantages?
