Crown Corporation Limited ('Crown' or 'the Company'), the UK listed investment
company, announces that Stuart Pearson has been appointed as Chief Executive of
the Company, with effect from 7th June 2005.
Stuart has been involved in corporate finance for over twenty years, and was for
the last six years Northern regional partner with Baker Tilly, the seventh
largest business services practice in the UK. He left in September 2004 to found
Langbar Capital Limited, a corporate finance advisory and investment company.
Langbar Capital was acquired by Crown Corporation, as announced in yesterday's
Audited Preliminary Results Statement.
Stuart is a well-known figure with extensive experience of corporate finance
work, including mergers and acquisitions.
He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1970, is a Member of the Securities
and Investment Institute, taking up a number of positions in industry before
setting up his own practice which merged with Baker Tilly in 1998.
Stuart Pearson, Chief Executive, Crown Corporation commented:
'Taking over the reins of Crown is an exciting challenge. The Board intends to
make further appointments in the near future to strengthen the team.
'It is my aim to broaden the investment criteria to include smaller
capitalisation companies, joint ventures and pre-IPO funding. These changes are
aimed at improving the returns on capital and ultimately the return to
shareholders. The strategy for the future will be to produce consistent and
growing earnings and capital appreciation by active management of the
investments'.
