Ukraine refuses Russian offer of loan for gas price hike UPDATE
KIEV (AFX) - Ukraine President Viktor Yushchenko has rejected the offer of a
a 3.6 bln usd loan from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to pay for a
major increase in gas prices being imposed by Russian company Gazprom, new
agency Interfax-Ukraine reported.
"We do not need this loan," Yushchenko was quoted by the news agency
Interfax as saying. "Ukraine will use its own means to pay a reasonable price,
formulated correctly and objectively."
