Regulator imposes 25% Jan. 1 price hike on residential natural gas

KIEV, Dec. 28 - The Ukrainian government’s energy sector regulating body increased average natural gas price on residential market by 25% starting Jan 1, 2006, the National Committee for Power Regulation (NCPR said Wednesday.
The price hike suggests the government has been beginning liberalization of domestic natural gas market following a bitter dispute with Russian gas monopoly Gazprom over gas prices to be charged in 2006.
