Dracula and a documentary about a Saturday morning kids' TV programme Multi-Coloured Swap Shop shared ratings honours last night.
The new version of Dracula, starring Marc Warren as the bloodsucking count, aired on BBC1 at 9pm and was seen by 5.1 million people, a 22% share according to unofficial overnights.
Despite taking many liberties with Bram Stoker's novel and emphasising the story's theme of repressed sexual desire, Dracula was an easy winner over ITV1's 9pm drama Perfect Parents.
But the real surprise was on BBC2 at the same time, when 3.9 million, an 19% share, tuned in to It Started with Swap Shop, a nostalgia fest about Saturday morning kids programme Multi-Coloured Swap Shop that starred Noel Edmonds.
ITV1 had to settle for third place
