From a tachnical standpoint ITM have an excellent chance of completing the hybrid H2/petrol engine prototype car well within the six months predicted in the recent announcement The control electronics are unlikely to be difficult and the hardware (H2 tank/piping,valves etc ) has already been used elswhere in previous prototypes in recent years
The key innovation in the ITM unit will be the ability to electrolyse H2 under pressure inside a storage tank perhaps a tank already mounted on the vehicle This saves the "3rd party energy cost" of compression by preserving energy created during electrolysis The use of embedded control grids will also simplify manufacture and reduce costs
The prototype hybrid engine car is targetted for demonstration in July 2007
......It would be reasonable to expect this car to be publicised in conjunction with the release of test and cost data...
.....hence the car really needs to be finished and running around somewhere by April/May time........hence the setting of the July 2007 date must have been predicated on pretty reliable bench data from the University of Hertfordshire
during July - Oct 2006 ...................
Likewise the commercial benefits of running diesel engines on an H2/diesel mixture will soon become apparent when field trials are conducted to verify the mpg improvements achieved on bench tests....
....Again the control electronics are unlikely to be difficult and the hardware (H2tank/piping,valves etc )can build on the work done on the H2/petrol hybrid
...................
At the minute the MOD fund seem to have frozen out the competition on the diesel version
However if the prototype H2/petrol and H2/diesel designs are viable as retro fit kits then there are bound to be a number of potential partners willing to manufacture under licence.......certainly after the July demo if not informally well before then
The next key announcement will be progress on electrolysing under pressure....I have a suspicion that this project is a lot further forward than we are being told .........The news must be getting managed since the MOD and Hydrogen Engine Centre would have sought assurances on this vital point which is critical to saving compression costs......
For the PI ITM remains an investment with a volatile sp which is still capable of multi bagging given the right developements and commercial strategy...
I`ve changed my view on the prospects for sudden upsurges in the sp which characterised the rise to 350p A few moths ago it seemed like those days were over........However given the achievment of existing milestones it only requires some technical assessments to be revisited by Fund advisors for a renewed buying interest to emerge.....
...as always
