To get a good game-show on the road this should have been
proposed months ago with much time before the game start
to set up the game with sensible rules .
I will not be playing this game even though I occasionally play the one-share Barclays game on Ken Batchelors thread and have not done too badly there .
My reasons for standing aside are as follows:
I once played a similar game in the Times/Bloomberg competition in 2001 which had big prizes . At the same time I was also "playing" in the market with real money and in the end had to conclude that the game interfered with my real trading . The game was artificial as all such games are in one way or another and the psychology of this risk-free trading was different from the real trading . Devoting much time to the game then interfered with getting the timing right for my real trades . My real portfolio is well over the 100K of this game and will require all my focused attention in 2004 .
Good luck with your game anyway .
