A diverse and challenging CFO position suited to an energetic individual seeking an influential role in a fast-growing and profitable young company operating in a rapidly evolving industry.

The Group, whose main operating subsidiary is authorised and regulated by the FSA, is an emerging leader in the field of international equity research, providing fundamental research services to most of the top US investment banks. Quoted on AIM, the Group became profitable in 2006 and has a very strong order book for 2007. It is embarking on major expansion plans in the coming 12 months which will involve both organic growth and acquisitions in the research space, a highly fragmented industry in which the group is positioning itself as a consolidator. Organic growth is expected to expand the Group from the current 60, to around 200 staff during the year. Until now the CFO function has been part-time and the incumbent is unable to devote additional time to the role. The successful candidate, on a full-time basis, will play a key role in the successful implementation of the Group's transformational strategy in 2007. The Group is planning to re-locate to offices near London Bridge early in the New Year and from this base, the CFO will oversee local operations as well as those of the Group's rapidly expanding subsidiary in India. The Group is expected to add operations in SE Asia during the year.
Reporting to the CEO who is the founder of the business, the successful candidate will be a Chartered Accountant. Duties will include: • On-going definition of Group strategy, with the board of directors • Liason with institutional investors, auditors, advisers and bankers, as well as Independent Directors • Participation in the identification of international acquisition targets and deal negotiation; the diligence process; and integration of acquired targets into the Group • Management of the Group’s ESOP (in which he or she will participate) • Preparation of management and statutory accounts, and tax matters • FSA reporting officer (you may already be CF10) • Preparation of forecasts and budgets • Secretary to the board of directors • Payroll, sales and purchase invoicing.

In addition to prior public company experience (preferably AIM-listed), previous experience of mergers and acquisitions would be a substantial advantage. Demonstrable abilities spanning hands-on detail as well as wider strategic outlook, are essentail

The Group is contemplating a number of additional appointments – General Counsel and Compliance Officer; and Head of UK Small-Cap Research. It is possible that particular prior experience and qualifications, combined with Chartered Accountancy, might provide an opportunity for a wider operational role within the Group. On this basis we would be particularly interested in hearing from individuals who combine CA qualifications and experience with either a CFA qualification, or legal qualification.
