Well if US government as a first move, bans the use of MTBE, currently mixed at 5% there's a demand for 7 billion gals, then as extra ethanol becomes available insists on 10% the big gas players will require ethanol if they want to do business in the US..
No ethanol, no selling gasoline in the US, by which time there will be a possible undersupply of ethanol, to ensure supply the big oil players might start buying up small ethanol players like GTL as the alternatives, losing out on gas sales or spending millions and waiting years to get their own plants up and running would not be very attractive.
