Jack: the institutions have been buying Emerald ;-) and they have also been buying Gulfsands. Information about the latter is easier to find in the public domain (for example, the purchase of the recently-exercised options), but I was recently told by an impeccable source that the largest 24 investors currently hold some 63% of EEN, and Emerald would like to see the level of institutional investment increase. Emerald have attracted a certain amount of institutional buying, but according to another very good industry source, I understand that they're still 'off the radar' as far as a lot of buyers are concerned. I believe that the position is that the institutions know that most of the weaker EEN investors have been shaken out, so buying in quantity is very difficult, it just spikes the sp up. The sp would in my personal view leap skywards - and more or less "in a single bound" - if, and it is of course still an 'if', GPX and EEN were to issue stonkingly good news about Tigris. I don't think 'buying' would be the cause as such, but rather a revaluation by the Market Makers. bob

edit: many of the investors in the Dog have been with it for years, and are surely looking for big - and I do mean big - returns. But Gulfsands is different: it's a much younger company, and some of the larger investors who haven't held for very long might well decide to take a profit on the back of major news. So GPX might be easier for well-heeled institutions to buy into, on major news, than the Dog. But as always, we're guessing.

imho DYOR etc as always
