You may well be correct, although a 'large short position' (even growing) could be viewed either way (conspiracy or not). However, on this occasion, you may be guilty of 'ball watching', while the larger 'game' passes you by. North Korea is only the most recent 'out of left field' event. There will likely be still more and soon.

Economically, politically and religeously, the planet is under a great stress right now. The US administration is now at the mercy of these events. They may try to get China on-side over N.Korea, but it will cost them. To be precise, it will cost them Taiwan. Ouch!
