Goodbye to Franconia who left the OFEX/PLUS markets today.
Look forward to watching their progress on TSX-V and await their planned move to main Toronto Exchange and eventually AMEX.
Anyone thinking of picking up more or selling FRA will need to become familiar with how the Canadian market works – there are no market makers – it is all done based on matched buy and sell orders. Below may help people who are not familiar with the Canadian Markets but please check this out yourselves with your broker:
For example in the screen shot below:
There are Bid orders:
25,000 at 1.45
5,000 at 1.41
200 at 1.36
8,700 at 1.35
etc
This means that if someone wanted to immediately sell 27,200 shares they could do this getting those prices (ie. some at 1.45, 1.41 and 1.36) and leave the Bid Price at 1.35.
On the Ask Side
4,200 at 1.50
10,800 at 1.55
If I wanted to buy 5,000 at 1.55 or better, then the trade would go through 4,200 at 1.50 and 800 at 1.55 moving the Ask to 1.55.
That’s my understanding anyway and Good Luck!
