Yes and no. Yes, you're right about having no stop loss - for FEP shares as well for that matter. I'm aware that these could easily be dropped below 60p briefly on some adverse rumour. And so far so bad for me with FEP spreadbets - I was stopped out before.
However, so far, I've found positions of £50 easy to buy and sell. I'm not talking £500 a point! An obvious reason for a spreadbet component is I don't want to pay 40% cgt if I sell on good news.

Bugged me too, but I'm back in despite that with a medium amount. Many holders, keen to get their losses back, have much more at stake than me. Leopold and Zengas are pretty persuasive, although I know there's risk.
